Wise Registry Cleaner

An old computer tends to be a bit confused and it won't know what's what that well. One of the problems is that the registry is getting clogged up with useless and obsolete keys. Wise Registry Cleaner focuses mainly on cleaning up your registry. The program is part of a larger cleaning suite developed by Wise Cleaner.

You only need to download a 2 Mb package and run it. Run it, go through a standard wizard and it will take a few seconds to install it. There's no need to reboot the system or anything. It can be run straight away.

The interface is something you can really get used to. It's very well organized and you can find your way through it right from the beginning. The program's functions are placed in three separate tabs on the window's top side. The first tab is the registry cleaner itself where you can perform a scan. The result will consist of lists, all organized in folders according to key types. This lets you quickly access key from application settings, firewall settings, software and many more. Clicking on a key will show a short message, telling you what does that key do or if there's a problem with it like if there's no application associated with it. You will find the space between the tabs and the actual work area quite handy. First, it will let you know what the tab's function is and why it's important. After scanning, for example, it will let you know how many problems did the program detect.

Messing around with registration keys can be risky. One slip up and your whole system can go haywire. That's why Wise Registry Cleaner has some built in safety features. When you run it for the first time, it will prompt you to create a system restore point or a full registry backup. So, if you do something wrong, you'll still have a life line. Creating a backup or restoring is made easy. You can find these options and the program's general settings as small icons in the upper right corner of the interface.

Wise Registry Cleaner has two more useful features, accessible via the other two top side tabs. You can find a system tuneup utility which will let you perform one or more preset optimization tasks like disabling screen error reporting or the autoplay on drives. The list is consistent and you can check whichever you'd like and click the "optimize button".

The final tab includes a registry defrag tool. As the program reminds us below the tabs, keeping your registry compact will make your system run faster. The content of this tab is just one large, chunky button labeled "start optimizing". Defragging the registry will require a system reboot.
